PGC at a Glance

The Phoenix Girls Chorus is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that offers a graduated choir program for girls ages 7 to 18. Founded in 1981 with the purpose of providing an extensive musical outlet and education for talented girls, the Phoenix Girls celebrated its 25th anniversary season in 2006!

Under the direction of Sue Kenly Marshall, the organization serves approximately 180 girls in five choirs. Education includes proper vocal technique, performance skills, sight singing, and music theory that approach college level. The repertoire includes classical, folk, contemporary choral literature, and Broadway. Many selections are performed in foreign languages. Previous performing choirs have taken part in such prestigious festivals as the Kathamieux Festival in British Columbia, Canada and the Von Trapp Festival in Vermont. They have toured throughout the United States and internationally including Germany, Italy, England, Wales, the Czech Republic and Austria. Each year many of our high school age members successfully audition for the Arizona Music Educators Regional and All-State Competitions.

The Phoenix Girls Chorus has made numerous appearances on television and performed the National Anthem for the last Governor's inauguration. Six major public concerts are performed each year as well as numerous public appearances at city events, retirement homes and hospitals. In addition, the chorus is available for private performances.
